Today, (Partner 1’s name) and (Partner 2’s name) are saying ‘thank you’ for the past (number of) years to each other. They are reaffirming that their civil partnership means more to them than ever and they will grow even closer as they look forward to the future together.

When two people are in love, one of the best outcomes is that something of that love affects their family and friends, who are able to share in their joy. So on behalf of you all, I would like to say thank you to you all for being here today to share in their happiness and witness their vows.

When two people declare their love for each other it gives us all a chance to think about relationships and what make them work well. Certainly good relationships have to be worked at, they don’t just happen by chance. We have to be committed. We have to be a loyal friend who overlooks the imperfections in our partner. We have to be prepared to work together to achieve our aspirations. We have to support each other in life’s ups and downs.  We must want the best for each other and be sympathetic in life’s disappointments.
