This is the complete list of available dates as of 14 May 2021, but these will change as couples book, and availability will not be updated unless further dates become available.

If you are interested in booking for one of these dates, please email registrars@islington.gov.uk to enquire, as these ceremonies are not bookable online.

Please note: you must have given legal notice, or have an appointment to give legal notice before booking the Assembly Hall. Many offices, including Islington have a large number of couples needing to give notice this spring and summer, leading to longer than usual waiting times for an appointment. When enquiring about one of these dates, please include the date you have given notice or the date you have booked for giving notice in the future.

Please note that this is the first time the Assembly Hall has been used for distanced ceremonies, so some of the images on this page are from concerts that took place last year to demonstrate the safe layout of the room, and others are from pre-pandemic ceremonies.

The price includes room hire, the registrars’ attendance and one marriage or civil partnership certificate. The fee is the same for couples choosing to have a marriage, a civil partnership with a ceremony or a civil partnership with no ceremony. You will be asked to pay the full fee secure the date, as these bookings take place in the next few months.

We are unable to offer a discount on the cost of the ceremony if the guest numbers or ceremony length needs to be reduced due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Capacity
The government have stated: ‘From 21 June the maximum number of attendees at a wedding, civil partnership ceremony, reception or celebration held in a COVID-secure venue… will be determined by how many people (including children) a venue can safely accommodate with social distancing measures in place…. As part of the duty on venue managers and organisers to limit health and safety risks, a safe capacity for the venue should be established. This number should enable members of staff, anyone conducting or supporting the event, and customers or guests (including children) to be socially distanced within the venue. Space in communal areas like waiting areas and corridors should be considered when setting the safe maximum number of attendees.’

Due to it's size, specialist ventilation system, and separate entrance, the Assembly Hall has been risk assessed for a Covid-safe maximum of 90 ceremony guests, seated in distanced pods of two people. Therefore, the numbers listed below will be possible in this room:

Step 3 (between 17 May and 20 June): 28 guests*

Step 3 (between 21 June and 18 July at the earliest): 90 guests*

Step 4: 90 guests*

* This number includes the witnesses/guests of any age, including children and babies and musicians. The couple, registrars, and one professional photographer do not count toward this number.
