About the room
The smallest of the ceremony rooms, the Mayor’s Parlour is a place where many dignitaries have been received and entertained over the years and is now licensed for ceremonies. The Mayor's Parlour accommodates 12 guests. The room is oak panelled and furnished luxuriously in red leather. The centre-piece of the room is the built-in fireplace, in front of which couples can make their vows. For those seeking an intimate ceremony in a grand setting, there could be no better choice than the Mayor's Parlour.
All prices include room hire, the registrars’ attendance and one marriage or civil partnership certificate. These guest numbers are the maximum number of guests you can usually invite, and do not include the couple, registrars, photographer, or children under two years old.
At this time, with social distancing measures in place, the Mayor’s Parlour cannot be used due to its size. This is subject to review and change as government and public health advice changes, but we will not book any new ceremonies in this room until it can be used again. Existing booked ceremonies will be asked to move into a larger room if needed, but will let you know nearer to the time of your ceremony if this is necessary, how many guests can attend, and any other safety measures in place.
The current government advice is that ceremonies need to be kept as short and simple as possible, meaning that music, readings, choice of ceremony, making an entrance into the room, other personalisation, or meeting with the registrar before the ceremony is no longer possible. Again, we will review this as government and public health advice changes in the future.
