About the venue

A historic and atmospheric building located just two minutes' walk from Liverpool Street Station, Bishopsgate Institute is the perfect venue to host your London wedding or civil partnership.

Immerse yourself in our elegant Grade II* listed building, with unique Victorian architectural details. Our beautiful spaces provide the perfect backdrop for your big day, whether you’re looking for a grand celebration or an intimate gathering.

Each of our spaces offers a different atmosphere and guarantees a memorable experience for you and your guests. Our glamorous Great Hall ballroom can hold up to 400 guests and is perfect for dancing the night away. Our Victorian library provides an enchanting setting for an intimate ceremony or elegant reception for up to 60 guests under the domed glass skylight. Or, opt for the elegance of the Upper Hall, with expansive windows that flood the space with natural light, for a daytime ceremony, drinks reception or a wedding breakfast for up to 220 guests.

Bishopsgate Institute is a charity. By hiring one of our spaces, you are helping us take care of our beautiful building and historic archives. We are home to an incredible archive including the UK’s largest LGBTQIA+ collection, which celebrates the trailblazers who strived for social and political change. We are proud to be an inclusive venue that welcomes all couples to celebrate in our historic spaces.

Our dedicated team is here to make your ceremony planning effortless and enjoyable. Together, we’ll create an atmosphere that is uniquely yours. From catering and drink service to entertainment and floral arrangements, our experienced staff will ensure a seamless celebration. We work with a carefully curated selection of approved caterers offering a variety of seasonal dining options, all of which are sustainably sourced and creatively served.
